Before the Bottle Counter: A Capsule Polishing and Inspection Handoff Checklist
Before requesting equipment for capsule polishing, inspection, and counting, define how capsules move between those stages. This nine-input checklist helps a buyer prepare a focused RFQ without assuming a production, quality, or compliance outcome.
Define the handoff before selecting machines
An RFQ for capsule polishing and inspection becomes more useful when it describes the handoff to the bottle counter, not just a list of machine names. State what enters the section, which decision each stage is expected to support, and what leaves it for packaging.
This is a planning document, not a promise of product quality, compliance, output, or defect detection. Its purpose is to give a supplier enough project context to identify open questions, define the proposed scope, and recommend what should be checked with real samples.
Keep functions separate
Describe a polishing objective separately from an inspection objective. A request for surface cleaning does not prove that every appearance issue can be found, classified, or corrected; those capabilities, limits, and acceptance criteria need project-specific agreement.
Inputs 1–3: capsule, upstream flow, and intended task
The first three inputs anchor the conversation in the actual handoff rather than a catalogue comparison. They also help prevent an upstream filler, a polishing or sorting stage, an inspection point, and a counter from being treated as unrelated purchases.
1. Describe the capsule and product state
Provide the capsule format, shell material where relevant, fill material description, and the visible condition to be reviewed at the handoff. Photographs or retained samples can be more useful than broad terms such as clean, dusty, good, or bad.
2. Describe how capsules arrive
State the upstream source, the expected delivery pattern, whether the flow is continuous or intermittent, and where operators currently intervene. Include the intended operating range only when it is a project requirement, not an assumed machine result.
3. State the task in observable terms
Explain what the section is meant to achieve before capsules reach the bottle counter. For example, the project may require a defined surface condition, a separate inspection decision, orderly transfer, or preparation for a specified packaging route.
Inputs 4–6: packaging route, interfaces, and routine work
The middle of the RFQ should show how the section fits the physical line. A machine can only be evaluated against the space, transfer, cleaning, and changeover expectations that are actually recorded.
4. Map the downstream packaging route
Record whether the next agreed step is counting into bottles, another packaging format, or a transfer point owned by another system. Identify the container or pack route that matters to the project, while leaving final compatibility for technical review.
5. Record physical interfaces and accumulation
Share the available footprint, transfer heights, access constraints, operator positions, and any planned accumulation point. A simple line sketch often exposes missing ownership at a handoff before equipment is selected.
6. Describe cleaning and changeover expectations
Specify what the operating team needs to clean, inspect, document, or change between product or package formats. Do not turn general hygiene language into an unverified compliance claim; ask the supplier to explain the proposed boundaries and procedures.
Inputs 7–9: decisions, documentation, and samples
The final three inputs keep unresolved issues visible. They turn a general quotation request into a technical conversation that can later be tested against documented project conditions.
7. Define the handling of exceptions
Identify who decides what happens when capsules do not meet the agreed project condition, when a transfer is interrupted, or when a count must be reviewed. The RFQ should name the decision point without assuming a rejection method or result.
8. List utilities, controls, and required documents
Provide the known site utilities, control-interface expectations, language needs, and documentation requests. Mark unknown items clearly so that they become supplier questions rather than hidden assumptions in a quotation.
9. Prepare a sample and acceptance discussion
If samples can be provided, describe their format, expected condition, and the questions they should help answer. Agree a written trial or review plan before treating any observation as proof of a final production result.
Turn the checklist into a useful RFQ
Send the nine inputs with a basic line sketch and one named project contact. Ask the supplier to distinguish confirmed information, assumptions, optional equipment, and items that still require a sample review or technical agreement.

Questions to settle before approving the scope
Can polishing replace inspection? No. They should be written as separate objectives until the project defines what must be assessed and how it will be assessed. Can a counter establish upstream product quality? No. Counting is a packaging-stage task and does not replace the agreed checks before it.

Capsule Counting and Bottling Machine
YOKO-10S is an automatic electronic counter for filling tablets, hard capsules, softgels, and selected solid units into bottles.
