Tablet and Capsule Counter Changeover Checklist

A practical pre-run checklist for reviewing product properties, bottles, contact parts, cleaning, counter settings, line clearance, trial counts, and connected equipment.

YOKO technical editorial

Start with the product and container pair

Record the dosage form, dimensions, shape, coating, dust tendency, static behaviour, count per bottle, container dimensions, and bottle-neck opening. These inputs should be reviewed together because product separation, sensor presentation, discharge, and bottle transfer all depend on the actual combination.

Use confirmed project samples and specifications rather than assumptions. If the product or container changes, treat the new combination as a fresh setup review even when the nominal output target remains the same.

Confirm contact parts and feeding settings

Identify the product-contact and format parts included in the changeover. Clean, inspect, dry, and reassemble them according to the site's approved procedures and the supplied equipment documentation. Check that guides, channels, hoppers, nozzles, and other adjustable parts match the intended product and bottle.

Record qualified vibration, feeding, sensor, and count settings where available. Stored recipes can shorten setup, but the operator should still verify that the selected recipe belongs to the current product and container.

Complete line clearance before start-up

Remove previous product, bottles, closures, labels, rejected units, and superseded paperwork from the counter and connected line. Confirm the programmed count, product identification, container format, reject arrangement, sensor cleanliness, guards, and utilities before introducing the first production bottle.

Line clearance should include upstream and downstream equipment. An otherwise correct counter setup can still be disrupted by unstable bottle feeding, poor spacing, delayed capping, or accumulation after discharge.

Run a controlled start-up check

Use representative product and containers for the initial check. Observe separation, sensor detection, discharge into the bottle opening, container movement, and the response to no-bottle or interrupted-flow conditions. Verify the programmed count using the site's approved sampling method before increasing speed.

Document the actual trial result and any adjusted settings. If dust, overlapping units, chipped product, static, or container instability affects detection, pause and correct the cause instead of compensating with an unsupported speed or output claim.

Match the counter to the complete bottling line

Counter selection should consider the full route from bottle unscrambling through counting, insertion, capping, sealing, labelling, and collection. Required output, count per bottle, bottle opening, product behaviour, available space, utilities, and control interfaces determine whether a compact or higher-channel model is appropriate.

For a project review, compare confirmed samples and line requirements with the YOKO-16S-S, YOKO-10S, YOKO-24S, and YOKO-8S counter options. Final configuration should be documented in the quotation and technical agreement.
